Стиви Уондър (Морис Стийвлънд) е роден на 13 май 1950 година в Сагиноу, Мичиган, САЩ. Роден е сляп по рождение. От съвсем млад се научава да свири на устна хармоника и ударни инструменти.

Едва на десет е, когато талантът му е забелязан от Рони Уайт, който побързва да го заведе при бъдещият шеф на "Мотаун" Бари Горди. Последният го взима под крилото си и до 1971 година той е принуден да изпълнява предписанията на фирмата, чиято единствена цел е създаване на шлагери.

С новия договор, който подписва след навършване на 21 години, Стиви Уондър става първият, който успява да си извоюва пълна свобода на творчество сред звездите на “Мотаун”. Всеки негов следващ албум се превръща в шедьовър, а отделни песни - в евъргрийни.

Стиви Уондър изнася концерти с “Ролинг Стоунс” през 1972 г., освен това записва с Рей Чарлс, Стен Гетц, Джеф Бек и Ерик Клептън. В голяма част от записите си, които осъществява професионално, той изпълнява партиите на почти всички инструменти. През 1974-1977 г. са му присъдени 14 награди “Грами”.

Има и "Оскар" за песента към филмна "Жената в червено" (1984) - култовата балада "I just called to say I love you".



Днес почти всички хора по света свързват именно с нея музиканта.

Личен живот:

През 1970 година се жени за приятелката си - певицата Сайрита, с която обаче се разделят само две години по-късно. Двамата запазват приятелски отношения до 2004 година, когато тя умира при инцидент. През 2001 среща любовта отново и сключва втори брак - с модната дизайнерка Кай Мила. Женени са и до днес. Стиви Уондър има 7 деца, последните две от които са именно от нея.
